TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) car floor mats are generally not prone to significant deformation under high temperature exposure, but this is not absolute and can be influenced by various factors:
Quality and formula of TPE materials: High quality TPE materials have good thermal stability. The proportions of various components in its formula have been optimized to maintain relatively stable physical properties at higher temperatures. For example, some high-end TPE car floor mats use special formulas and additives to enhance the material's heat resistance, maintaining its shape and structural integrity even under prolonged exposure to high temperatures. TPE materials with poor quality or unreasonable formulations may have insufficient thermal stability, and their molecular structure may change in high-temperature environments, causing the foot pads to become soft and deformed. For example, TPE foot pads produced by some small manufacturers are prone to deformation at high temperatures due to the use of cheap raw materials and non-standard production processes.
Thickness and structural design of foot mats: Thicker TPE car foot mats typically have better resistance to deformation. Because thicker materials can better resist external forces and maintain their shape at high temperatures. For example, some TPE foot pads with a thickness of over 5 millimeters have relatively less deformation after high temperature exposure. In addition, the structural design of the foot pad will also affect its anti deformation performance. Reasonable structural design, such as adding reinforcing ribs or using multi-layer composite structures, can improve the rigidity and stability of the foot pad and reduce the possibility of deformation. On the contrary, if the foot pad is too thin or the structural design is unreasonable, it is more likely to deform at high temperatures.

Exposure time and temperature: Even high-quality TPE car floor mats may experience some degree of deformation under extreme high temperatures and prolonged exposure. Generally speaking, when the temperature inside the car exceeds 70 ℃ or even higher and the exposure time lasts for several hours or more, the risk of deformation of TPE floor mats will increase. For example, in the hot summer, when a vehicle is parked in an open parking lot without any shelter, after a whole day of exposure to sunlight, the temperature inside the car rises sharply. At this time, TPE floor mats may experience slight edge warping, local surface indentation, and other deformation phenomena. However, in most cases, when the temperature drops, the foot pad will regain some shape, but if repeatedly exposed to high temperatures, deformation may gradually accumulate, affecting the effectiveness of the foot pad.
Usage environment and installation method: If TPE car floor mats are not properly fixed during installation, they are more prone to displacement and deformation under high temperature exposure due to material softening. In addition, the vibration and friction during vehicle operation may also exacerbate the deformation of the foot pads at high temperatures. Additionally, different usage environments have varying impacts on foot mats. For example, vehicles that frequently drive in high-temperature areas such as deserts will face more severe high-temperature tests for TPE foot pads, and the possibility of deformation will also increase relatively.
Overall, TPE car mats with qualified quality and reasonable design are less prone to significant deformation under normal use and general high-temperature exposure conditions. But in order to extend its service life, it is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures or use measures such as sunshades to reduce the temperature inside the vehicle.
